Joowon earned his Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Seoul National University, where he specialized in developing electrokinetic sensors for high-precision, real-time analysis. His research has been published in leading international SCI journals, including Sensors and Actuators B: Chemical, Langmuir, and Nano Letters, reflecting the academic significance and innovation of his work. In recognition of his outstanding contributions to research, he received the prestigious Doyeon Award from the Inter-university Semiconductor Research Center (ISRC).

As a Senior Researcher at ProvaLabs, Joowon currently leads sensor development initiatives aimed at quantitatively evaluating the physiological functionality of organoids and microphysiological systems. He focuses on designing integrated sensing platforms capable of reliable, real-time monitoring, supporting their application in drug development and disease modeling. His work plays a pivotal role in advancing next-generation biosensing technologies for complex in vitro model analysis.

Outside of research, he enjoys long-distance running, finding personal fulfillment in pushing his physical and mental limits through continuous training.
